News Center-Mersin Metropolitan Municipality continues to increase its contribution and support to the cultural and artistic life. The "Aratos Philosophy Symposium" was held for the first time in Tarsus with the joint work of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and Aratos Philosophy Journal.

Özdülger: “We want to live in peace”
Bengi İspir Özdülger, Coordinator of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture and Social Affairs, who started her speech at the symposium by conveying the love and greetings of President Vahap Seçer, said, “Of course we do not want war, we want to live in peace. We; We want a society that thinks, questions, researches and wants to live it in peace at the point of freedom. This is our approach as Mersin Metropolitan Municipality. With the awareness of how valuable peace, equality and justice are, we want a society to live in peace in Mersin and in Tarsus," he said.
Regret: “We find it meaningful that local governments support such projects”
Journalist Uğur Pişmanlık, Founder of Aratos Philosophy Magazine, noted that they held the aforementioned symposium with the contribution and support of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and said, “We are in an effort for enlightenment in Tarsus. The 19-year-old Aratos Magazine is trying to make this city a city of philosophy. This city has values in terms of archaeological, historical and local foods. This city has 39 philosophers who lived in ancient times. There are intellectuals who lived after the Republic. Therefore, we think that philosophy is what suits Tarsus and will give Tarsus an identity. In this context, we find it meaningful that local governments support the city's intellectuals and such projects.”
