NEWS CENTER-China: ″US should cut military ties with China’s island of Taiwan immediately″
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the United States should immediately cut off its military ties with Taiwan and China's military sale to the island of Taiwan.
According to information received, the US State Department recently approved two military sales to China's island of Taiwan. Total sales of US$ 425 million consist of spare parts for military aircraft and some equipment. China's defense authorities on the island of Taiwan said the military sales would help the island conduct air operations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ming discussed the issue at the press conference held in Beijing today.
Spokesperson Mao Ning pointed out that the US has clearly violated the principle of "One China" and three joint declarations between China and the US, including the August 17 Statement. According to the August 17 Statement, the US is synonymous with China's military sales to the island of Taiwan, violating China's national sovereignty and security interests, and sending the wrong signal to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
Spokesman Mao Ning emphasized that China steadfastly opposes the US military sales in question, and noted that it will respond strongly to the US side to protect security with its national sovereignty.
